Graduating with Dreams of Transforming Events into Magical Memories
So, a little birdie told me you’re curious about my journey to becoming a wedding and event planner—and oh boy, is it quite the rollercoaster ride! Picture me in a cap and gown, accidentally on purpose photobombing people’s Instagram stories. Yep, that’s a scene you might just see real soon because, drumroll please, I am graduating this coming year with a Bachelor of Science in Event Management, my very own BS degree. How cool is that?
Now, graduating with this degree might make you think I’ll be lounging around on Miami’s glorious beaches, 24/7 oceanside mimosas in hand. I mean, that’s what we all picture when we think of Miami, right? Sand, sun, and…event management specters gnawing at the back of my mind? But nope, the journey doesn’t stop at the shoreshift—it’s more of a deep dive into the glittery and gutsy world of planning dream weddings and mind-blowing events! (And maybe sun, if there’s time!).
Let’s talk about those dreams! Let me tell you something. When I was a shiny-eyed freshman getting lost on campus—and in my own thoughts—I dreamt of fairy-tale weddings and any bash with a disco ball. (Remember, I did just say “glittery!”) Weddings, spectacular corporate shindigs, birthday extravaganzas—the kind that leave guests talking for years and doing dance moves like nobody’s watching. We’ve our aspirations, wouldn’t you agree?
But here’s the kicker—I know it won’t all be magic and mirth! Event planning is no cakewalk, folks. It comes with spirit-crunching stress, frenetic schedules, and moments where throwing the nearest cupcake against the wall seems oddly cathartic. Over time, I’ve learned the ins and outs—like rolling with the punches and pivoting with poise when things don’t go as planned. It’s all part of the job.
Yet there’s something wildly exciting about transforming a “meh” venue into a magical experience and ensuring your client’s grandma gets to groove to “We Are Family” on the dance floor. It’s a real high, people!
For now, I’m eagerly scribbling down ideas, sniffing around dreamy florists, and thinking about color palettes that would definitely make Van Gogh glad he picked up a paintbrush in the first place. And as I stand on the cusp of adulthood and a career loaded with linens and logistics, I realize it’s a blend of science—hello, time management—and a heap of heart. They say, “Do what you love,” and here I am, getting ready to do exactly that.
So let me invite you to walk this path with me, through each high-stakes event and every little mishap turned magic moment. Maybe in a few weeks, I’ll be sinking my feet into the sand for much-needed inspiration brainstorming! Thanks for reading my quirky musings, your enthusiasm and encouragement jazz me right up!
Aaand—cue graduation cap (hopefully not) mid-air disaster. Here’s to weddings, events, and heartfelt beginnings in Miami! See you on the flip side. 🌺🏄♀️🎉
